Lip Surgeries

The lips are the most prominent structures of the lower face and they have a significant role in in conveying emotion and attractiveness

Lip enhancement

This cosmetic procedure is done to improve the contour of the lips, by making them more fuller and plump. Fillers are injected into the lips usually after a local anaesthetic cream application and will last from 9- 12 months depending on the type of filler used.

Initially, the lips look rather swollen but this settles over 48-72 hours as the local anaesthetic wears off and some off the filler is absorbed. Usually gel fillers containing Hyaluronic acid are used .Commonly used brands are Restylane, Restylane- Perlane , Juvaderm Ultra etc. Hyaluronic acid is a component of the human body, and hence it will rarely produce allergic reactions.

Fat transfer is performed under Local Anaesthetic and involves taking a thin strip of fat and dermis (lower level of skin) from the abdomen and sliding it into the lip through two tiny incisions. Initially, the lip looks rather swollen but this settles over 48-72 hours as the local anaesthetic wears off and some of the fat is absorbed. Sutures are removed (if not dissolving) in 7-10 days.

The scars will need moisturising (with a bland moisturiser) and massaging for at least one month to help with the final result.
